Context:

Ashton Jeanty is a former 3-star recruit out of Texas with a background playing both RB and WR in High School, he chose to attend Boise St over multiple other FBS offers. As a true freshman, he formed a backfield pairing with another future NFL player, George Holani; together they made a prolific rushing attack combining for just under 2000 rushing yards. The pairing returned for Jeanty’s sophomore season again splitting carries, though an injury to Holani led to Jeanty becoming a bell cow for several games, a role he thrived in; overall Jeanty had a little under 2000 total yards with 19 TDs, establishing himself as one of the best backs in the country as an underclassmen splitting reps. He became the guy his Junior season taking a large majority of reps with Holani off to the NFL, he entered the season on several trophy watch lists and didn’t disappoint putting up a historic season; he ran for 2,595 yards, just short of the single-season FBS record, and had an astounding 30 total touchdowns finishing as the Heisman Trophy runner-up and winning several other awards.
